Kisame Hoshigaki

The Tailless Tailed Beast

Kisame Hoshigaki is Itachi Uchiha’s Akatsuki partner and one of the organization’s physically strongest members. A shark-like former ninja of the Hidden Mist, his monstrous chakra reserves earned him the nickname the Tailless Tailed Beast.

Samehada

Kisame carries Samehada, a living, sentient sword covered in scales that shave and devour an opponent’s chakra rather than cut cleanly. The blade bonds to Kisame, replenishes him, and makes drawn-out fights a losing battle for anyone forced to spend energy against him.

The Mist’s monster

As one of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, Kisame pairs raw power with a genuine enjoyment of battle. Alongside Itachi he hunts the tailed-beast hosts, and his water techniques let him turn any battlefield into his own ocean, where his advantage becomes overwhelming.

Loyalty unto death

For all his brutality, Kisame’s defining trait is devotion to his cause. Captured and interrogated, he chooses to die rather than surrender Akatsuki’s secrets — biting through his own restraints and summoning sharks to end himself, faithful to the last.
