Akatsuki’s living network

Zetsu is Akatsuki’s strangest member — a plant-like being, half white and half black, who serves as the organization’s spy, scout and battlefield coordinator. Able to merge with earth and vegetation, he moves unseen across nations and relays information no ordinary agent could gather.

The White Zetsu army

The white half of Zetsu is grown from the cells of the First Hokage, and from that same material an entire clone army is cultivated for the Fourth Great Ninja War. These White Zetsu can copy the faces and techniques of the fallen, infiltrating the allied ranks and sowing paranoia.

Two wills in one body

Zetsu’s white and black halves are not truly one being. The white side is a manufactured servant, while the black side harbours a far older and more sinister agenda — a distinction the rest of Akatsuki never fully understands.

A pawn’s true master

Zetsu appears to serve Madara and Obito, but his black half answers to something older still: the buried will of Kaguya Otsutsuki. What looks like a mere spy is in fact the thread connecting the whole conspiracy back to the goddess at its origin.
