Fearing the Uchiha clan's potential coup, Danzō ordered Itachi to massacre the entire clan — a genocidal act that Danzō framed as necessary for the village's survival. Throughout the series, Danzō manipulated events from behind the scenes, including orchestrating the destruction of the Leaf Village, positioning himself as the next Hokage.
