The jinchūriki nobody wanted

Naruto Uzumaki is the orphaned host of Kurama, the Nine-Tailed Fox, sealed inside him at birth by his father Minato — the Fourth Hokage — at the cost of both his parents’ lives. Feared and shunned by a village that saw only the monster inside him, Naruto grows up starved for acknowledgement, acting out to be noticed. His defining trait is not talent but refusal to quit: he fails the Academy exam three times and still declares he will become Hokage.

Team 7 and the will to be acknowledged

Assigned to Team 7 under Kakashi Hatake alongside Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno, Naruto finds the family he never had — and a rival whose approval he craves more than anyone’s. He learns the Rasengan from the Sannin Jiraiya and later masters Sage Mode among the toads of Mount Myōboku. His true weapon, though, is empathy: again and again he reaches enemies through understanding rather than force, a pattern fans nicknamed his “Talk no Jutsu.”

The war and Kurama

In the Fourth Great Ninja War, Naruto finally wins over the fox that was forced on him: Kurama stops being a prisoner and becomes a partner, and the two fight as one. Granted Six Paths power by the sage Hagoromo, Naruto turns the tide against Obito and Madara, and together with Sasuke seals the resurrected goddess Kaguya Ōtsutsuki.

Hokage

The story closes where it began — at the Valley of the End, where Naruto and Sasuke settle their rivalry in a fight that costs each of them an arm and finally ends it as equals. Naruto’s dream is realised in full: he becomes the Seventh Hokage, the outcast child who won an entire village’s acknowledgement not by power but by never giving up on anyone.
