Secret Police Arc

Yor's younger brother Yuri visits and reveals himself as a member of Ostania's feared Secret Police, forcing Loid to confront his suspicions while the couple struggles to prove their marriage is real.

The Secret Police Arc brings WISE and Twilight's most dangerous domestic adversary, the State Security Service, directly to the Forger doorstep. Yor's devoted younger brother, Yuri Briar, learns of her sudden marriage and arrives to meet Loid, and Loid quickly deduces that the polite young diplomat is in fact a ruthless officer of Ostania's feared Secret Police, a fact Yor herself does not know. Tense dinner-table comedy escalates when Yuri, suspicious of the couple after seeing them fluster over an accidental touch, drunkenly demands they kiss to prove their love, threatening to annul the marriage if they cannot. The encounter leaves Loid worried that Yor's connection to the SSS through Yuri could compromise Operation Strix. To resolve his doubts, Loid reluctantly plants a listening device on Yor and shadows her at work, then disguises himself and Franky as SSS officers to confront her directly. Yor's genuine, innocent reactions clear his suspicions and leave him feeling guilty for distrusting her. The arc deepens the dramatic irony at the series' core, since Yuri unknowingly shares a table with the very Westalian spy he is sworn to hunt.
