Introduction Arc

Westalian spy Twilight receives Operation Strix, builds a fake family by recruiting assassin Yor and adopting telepathic orphan Anya, and prepares to enroll her at Eden Academy to reach Donovan Desmond.

The Introduction Arc is the first story arc in Spy x Family and establishes the entire premise of the series. Westalis sends its greatest spy, codenamed Twilight, on Operation Strix, a mission to monitor the reclusive Ostanian politician Donovan Desmond, chairman of the National Unity Party, whose actions threaten the fragile peace between Westalis and Ostania. Because Desmond only appears in public at his son's prestigious school, Twilight must enroll a child of his own at Eden Academy within a strict deadline. Lacking a family, the spy adopts Anya, an orphan who secretly possesses telepathic powers and immediately reads his mind, learning he is a spy. To present a complete household for the admissions process, Twilight, now living as the psychiatrist Loid Forger, recruits Yor Briar, a Berlint City Hall clerk who is secretly the assassin known as Thorn Princess, into a marriage of convenience. Neither adult knows the other's true profession, while Anya gleefully keeps both secrets. The arc closes as the newly formed Forger family, each hiding a dangerous double life, begins working toward Anya's enrollment, setting the comedic and dramatic engine of the series in motion.
