Inori pursues qualification for national competition, facing increasingly elite skaters and discovering what Olympic-level competition demands.

The National Qualifiers arc brings Medalist toward its ultimate goal—Olympic competition—by establishing what qualification requires and demonstrating the exceptional capability demanded at truly elite levels of figure skating. Inori must overcome skaters with significantly more training, considerably more experience, and superior technique to qualify for national competition where the best skaters compete. The arc explores the specialized world of elite figure skating where technical excellence, artistic expression, mental resilience, physical conditioning, and psychological maturity converge in complex ways. At this level, skaters are not merely athletically talented but have dedicated their entire adolescence to skating, receiving professional coaching from nationally recognized experts with competitive experience. Tsukasa discovers his own growth through coaching Inori, finding purpose and redemption through helping his student pursue dreams he couldn't achieve himself competitively. Rather than viewing her success as reminder of his failure, he comes to understand that her achievement represents something meaningful—that he can contribute to success even if he personally failed competitively.
