Laios Touden is a tallman swordsman and the leader of the adventuring party at the heart of the series. He launches the expedition to rescue his younger sister Falin after she is devoured by a red dragon, refusing to abandon her even when his party is left penniless. Stoic, socially awkward and endlessly earnest, Laios is defined by his unusual and genuine fascination with monsters, which makes him the only member of the group truly excited to eat the creatures they fight. His curiosity, lack of pretense and steady reliability under pressure carry the party through the dungeon's escalating dangers as he grows into an unlikely hero.

Marcille Donato is the party's half-elf mage and one of Laios and Falin's closest friends. Expressive, anxious and often the comedic voice of disgust at the prospect of eating monsters, she nonetheless throws herself fully into the rescue mission. A gifted scholar of magic, Marcille specializes in the forbidden art of resurrection and ancient dungeon spellcraft, knowledge that proves both invaluable and dangerous. Her emotional warmth grounds the party, but her deep fear of losing the people she loves drives her toward taboo magic. Over the series she becomes central to the conflict surrounding the dungeon's true power and its tempting promise of cheating death.

The Lunatic Magician is the elf who rules the dungeon from its depths, the unseen master who controls death within it and manipulates the buried kingdom's fate. Possessing immense power over resurrection and the dungeon's shifting geography, he seizes Falin and fuses her with the red dragon to create a chimera under his command. Mysterious, unstable and seemingly cruel, he serves as the primary obstacle in the second half of the series. Yet his motives are tied to a deeper tragedy involving the demon that empowers him, complicating his role as villain and revealing the cost of the bargain he once made.

Chilchuck Tims is the party's half-foot locksmith and trap expert, the cautious and pragmatic member who handles doors, traps and the unglamorous logistics of survival. Frequently exasperated by his companions' recklessness, especially Laios's monster obsession, he provides dry commentary and a grounded perspective amid the chaos. Despite his cynical, businesslike exterior, Chilchuck is fiercely competent and quietly devoted to the group, treating their partnership with the seriousness of a professional contract. His small stature leads others to underestimate or infantilize him, a misperception he resents, since he is in fact an experienced adult with significant responsibilities of his own.

Senshi is the dwarf cook who joins Laios's party early in the dungeon, the gentle giant whose decades of underground experience make the monster-eating plan possible. Calm, philosophical and endlessly patient, he treats cooking dungeon creatures as both an art and a way of living in harmony with the dungeon's strange ecosystem. His enormous beard, heavy cookware and serene demeanor make him an instantly memorable figure. Senshi serves as the party's culinary mentor and emotional ballast, often defusing tension with a hot meal and a thoughtful word, while his survival skills repeatedly keep the group alive far below the surface.

Falin Touden is Laios's younger sister and a kind, soft-spoken mage whose fate sets the entire story in motion. After saving her companions from a red dragon at the cost of being devoured herself, Falin becomes the goal of the party's desperate descent. Though absent for much of the early narrative, her presence looms over every chapter, and her warmth and gentle nature are remembered fondly by Laios, Marcille and the others. Resurrected and later transformed into a monstrous chimera by the dungeon's master, Falin sits at the tragic center of the conflict over death, magic and the dungeon's power.

Izutsumi is a beastfolk girl who joins Laios's party in the later half of the series, a cat-like warrior cursed to live with feline traits she resents. Prickly, independent and quick to lash out, she initially has little interest in the group's mission and openly dislikes eating monsters, creating friction with the food-focused party. Formerly a servant bound to Laios's rival Shuro, she escapes that life seeking freedom and a way to break her curse. Behind her aloof, defensive attitude lies a young person learning, slowly and reluctantly, to trust others and to belong to something larger than herself.
