The Three Kings Saga relocates the story to Demon World (Makai) and reframes the series' central question one final time. Rather than another escalating boss fight, the arc concerns a political and generational struggle among three powerful demon rulers — Yomi, Mukuro, and the ailing Raizen, to whom Yusuke is revealed to be connected. Each king commands a vast territory and army, and the looming question is how the balance of power among them will be settled. Togashi uses the saga to subvert shonen convention. After three arcs building toward ever-larger confrontations, the conflict among the Three Kings is ultimately resolved not through a world-shaking duel but through the proposal of a regular, organized tournament to determine leadership — a peaceful, almost bureaucratic solution that pointedly rejects the genre's appetite for apocalyptic finales. The arc is shorter and more reflective, dealing with legacy, the inevitability of change, and what the protagonists choose to do with their lives once the fighting is no longer mandatory. The series concludes with Yusuke and his friends returning to more ordinary lives, their bonds intact but their circumstances changed. The Three Kings Saga is divisive among fans for its brisk pacing, partly a product of the manga's real-world conclusion, but it is also a deliberate, thematically consistent ending that closes Yusuke's journey from reckless delinquent to someone at peace with who he has become.
