The Jusendo Final Arc

In the climactic arc, the cursed cast returns to China where Akane is kidnapped by Saffron, the prince of the Phoenix people, forcing Ranma into his most desperate battle and a confrontation with his true feelings for Akane.

The longest and most dramatic storyline of the manga brings the series toward its emotional climax. The cursed members of the cast, including Ranma, Genma, Ryoga and Mousse, travel back to the region of Jusenkyo, both to protect the magical springs and because Shampoo has been taken. There they encounter Saffron, the arrogant young prince of the Phoenix people of Mount Phoenix, who rules with godlike power. Saffron orders Akane to be kidnapped and used to feed a process that would create new cursed waters, shrinking her to a doll like state in the process. Ranma fights with unprecedented seriousness, abandoning his usual reluctance and bravado as Akane's life hangs in the balance. In the decisive confrontation Akane risks herself to save Ranma and appears to die, pushing Ranma to defeat Saffron in a battle far more intense than any earlier comedic duel. The arc resolves the long simmering romance between Ranma and Akane, allowing both to finally acknowledge what they have denied for the entire series. It delivers genuine stakes and emotion while remaining true to the comedic adventurous spirit that defined Ranma from the start.
