A retrospective arc revealing Satoru Gojo's past as a young sorcerer and his relationship with Suguru Geto, who together rose as the strongest sorcerer duo. The arc depicts the tragedy that fractured their friendship and sent Geto down a dark path toward nihilism and extremism. Set two years before the main narrative, teenage Gojo and Geto serve as escorts for two other Jujutsu High students, Haibara and Nanami, on a mission to transport Riko Amanai, the Star Plasma Vessel. Riko is destined to merge with Tengen, a special-grade jujutsu sorcerer who achieved immortality through forbidden techniques and now exists as a permanent supernatural guardian. The mission seems straightforward: protect the vessel until the merger occurs. Toji Fushiguro, Megumi's father, emerges as the arc's primary antagonist. Toji is a rare human born without cursed energy—a condition that usually means death in the jujutsu world. Instead, she survived through pure physical skill and mastery of cursed tools, becoming a contract killer. Toji nearly kills Gojo multiple times, overwhelming his Infinity technique through sheer speed and tactical awareness. Her presence establishes that power and cursed energy are not identical; human skill can challenge supernatural advantages. Gojo's near-death against Toji triggers a breakthrough: he awakens Reversed Cursed Technique while dying, using his body's regenerative capabilities as a weapon. Simultaneously, his Infinity technique fully awakens, creating an automatic spatial manipulation that deflects all matter and energy from his body. These two breakthroughs make him functionally untouchable—the moment where Gojo becomes 'the strongest sorcerer of the modern era.' Geto's experience during this mission follows a parallel trajectory toward darkness. Witnessing Riko's fate—a human sacrificed to Tengen's needs—and observing the jujutsu world's indifference to the ethical horror involved plants seeds of disgust with jujutsu society. By the arc's end, Gojo has ascended to ultimate power while Geto has begun his descent toward rejecting the entire system. Gojo's strength makes him capable of protecting others; Geto's disillusionment makes him question whether protecting a corrupt system is morally defensible.
